Improve Your Sales Letter Writing Skills.

I’m always being asked what is the quickest way to learn the secret triggers and buttons that master copywriters use in their copy.

The thing is, there is one way that doesn’t cost a dime and that will implant these things in your brain as surely as a sledgehammer will crack a walnut… But most people simply ignore it.

You may even be the same…

But you know what? There is no surer way to absorb the little triggers and understand the psychology of the emotional hot buttons. You’ll also learn how a good sales letter flows by simply finding a some killer copy and writing it out, word for word onto a piece of paper - BY HAND.

This is important - don’t type it on your computer or just read it. Actually take the time to write it by hand.

I was doing just that the other day - something I’ve made into a routine - and it’s amazing the little things that I suddenly started seeing. I’d not noticed them when I’d been reading the sales letter, but they suddenly leapt out at me as I wrote it down…

Simple but ‘Oh-so-effective’ things like the choice of one small word… the use of the hyphen to join phrases and make the copy ‘move quicker’ or simply changing an adjective for a verb to add more punch and impact. This is the ‘copywriting language’ that your English teacher couldn’t teach you at school.

When you read a sales letter these things affect or move you but you are not always sure why.

However, when you copy a sales letter out longhand you have time to see and understand exactly what the smallest changes can do. And what’s more, these ‘tricks’ become implanted in your brain by the very act of writing. You can also visit at www.killer-sales-letters.com

It’s almost as if they jump off the paper and run up your arm before settling inside your head. It’s one of those strange things that happen. I don’t know how it does, but it works.

Not doing something as simple as these costs you in two ways:

1. You don’t get to learn the secrets - Period.

2. It costs you money because you probably buy courses and DVD’s that don’t teach you these little secrets.

So why is it that people don’t make a habit of doing something as valuable as this? Is it because it takes too much time? For more results you can visit at www.web-sales-letter-supreme.com

It could be. People do tend to want the quick way out which is a little shortsighted…

I know that time is valuable but so is education.

So, if you make a habit of writing great sales letters out longhand the time you spend doing so becomes negligible. You’ll even find that as you copy out a professional copywriter’s sales letter your own sales letter will begin forming itself in your head.

And, as soon as you’ve finished your little homework task you’ll be steaming full speed ahead into writing your own killer sales letter.

Another benefit of this that is crucially important to those who are non-native speakers of English is it teaches you how to use English at the same time.

Give it a try - I’m sure you’ll be amazed at the results.

Top 8 Online Copywriting Mistakes

1. Too many keywords

Don’t make your keywords too obvious. If you’re optimising a page on your website for a particular keyword then don’t overload the copy with it. Your main focus should be creating relevant and engaging content and your target keyword should feature naturally within the text.

2. Lifeless copy

Online copywriting (and all copywriting) should be entertaining otherwise what’s the point? No one is going to read copy if it’s not engaging or interesting to them. This is especially true with online copywriting as people won’t waste time wading through pages of dull or irrelevant content they will visit your competitors instead.

3. Poor content

Regularly adding content to your website is a good idea, as long as it’s quality content. If you’re paying someone a measly 5 per article then this is unlikely to be quality content regardless of if it’s written by an ‘expert’. If you’re investing in the skills of an online copywriter to add content to your website then ask for examples or arrange to meet them so you know you’re getting a good deal before you buy.

4. Your life story

The About Us page features in one form or another on many websites and it is a great place to let your visitors find out about the real people behind the website. People are busy and if they take the time to get to know you then don’t waste this opportunity by telling them every single detail about your company history. Keep it chatty, fresh and relevant to your visitors.

5. Spelling and grammar mistakes

It’s easily done a rouge apostrophe here, a spelling error there - but no one reads properly online right? While it’s true that people tend to skim read online this doesn’t mean that they won’t spot a mistake in your copy. Spelling and grammar errors can make your website look unprofessional or difficult to read. Proofread everything before you upload it to your website. Better still, ask someone else to double check it for you.

6. Saying too much

Short website copy which is to the point is much more effective than pages and pages of rambling content which can end up confusing or boring your visitors. You don’t have long to impress your visitors so make sure you get them with the first sentence and make them read on.

7. Not saying enough

While it’s important to keep your copy concise and to the point, there’s always the danger of going too far and missing key information out. People use the internet to find information so if you’re not saying enough then your visitors may go elsewhere to find what they need. By not having enough key points in your copy, you’re unlikely to cover all the features and most importantly the benefits your website can offer your visitors.

8. Duplicate content

Online copywriting is hard work which is the main reason why many people out source it. If you want to save money on outsourcing your copywriting then it could be tempting to use copy which already exists and duplicate this on your website. Even if you have permission from the original author to use this content, having the same copy which features elsewhere on the internet means you’re not offering your visitors anything new. Using duplicate content can also have a negative effect on your website’s ranking.
